NYESTA's prime mission for each year is our Summer Conference, Which is all about experiential learning. There’s no better way to experience New York State geology than through NYESTA's hands-on geological experiences/summer conferences. Professional scientists guide us as we explore New York State's crust to better understand our natural world and Earth's history! Gaining this valuable experience helps you to stay motivated when sharing this information with students. Our trips are not just about geology; we also cover space sciences at conferences. NYESTA members can set up telescopes to observe the night sky and help each other learn or be guided by our experts and their telescopes. Daytime solar observing is fun and affordable and will be demonstrated as well.
This year's 2025 conference will be held at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory. Lamont-Doherty is associated with Columbia University. We offer CTLE credits, which cost only $20.00 (for members). Our current ideas for this year's conference are to explore the Glacial Geology of Westchester County, visit Fluorescent Mineral Mines, tour the American Museum of Natural History, and more…….!
